My name is Karthik Shankar and I am currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science + Statistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I love to build and create new things. In my free time, I am always coming up with products and ideas that I want bring to life!
I have previously worked as a Software Dev Intern at Zoom Video Communications, Software Engineering Intern at Couchbase Inc and Software Engineer for Hack4Impact UIUC. In the future, I hope to get into the fields of Data Science and Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Sercurity.

Worked as a paid summer intern on the Couchbase platform, where I created Python automation scripts to transpose data into database buckets. I also fixed bugs in the UI and created visualization tables to store and display Virtual Machine Data.

These are recent endeavors taken on over the last few years, which have helped get my hands dirty.
Built Educational Open-Source API Platform used for loading online API’s in an effort to create a week-long individualized study plan for any user. Currently works with Khan Academy's online API. (More info at: X-Cram)
Created web application to assist musicians in categorizing and manipulating beat-count. It was created to help musicians better track and understand the tempo of their music recordings.
Website created with incorporation of search fields and word recognition to easily store and locate musical notes for Indian Drum music class.
Working on teaching lessons on Data Science + Analytics topics such as Machine Learning, Python and Data Visualization; creating Jupyter Notebooks to facilitate learning with students
Tutored students outside and inside the AP Computer Science and Java Programming Classes at Monta Vista High School.
Worked on creating workshops on engineering + design principles and research opportunities for members at Monta Vista High School.
